    Excellent-frog…Yes I remember those years including the war drills under desks,
    the war protesters, etc. and you are right “And now we have a Leader that Has not
    a clue.” If all dont stand up and be counted and Speak up–write our Senate members;
    our country we all love will go to he–in a large handbag. I dont want to see America
    become owned and controlled by China, Japan or God forbid Mexico….Our family,
    friends and neighbors are losing jobs, homes, and pride while Our leader scratches
    his head “What next” as he passes it to congress. They in DC our like a hog pen
    full of pigs with no Mama…

    Thanks for the 30+ year summary, I didn’t really get interested in politics until Jimmy Carter came into office. My father (who ran a machine tools business) and I went down to the bank one day to open a CD. Gosh, imagine making 18% interest on a CD now! With Jimmy there was one disaster after another with that guy. I remember those hostages being held, every day the news would be day x of the hostages being held. They didn’t let anyone forget it, back then the media was actually doing its job. I wonder what force came into play and the particular 3 months when they actually quit being the agency that held the all politicians responsible. PBS did a very good documentary on him, matter of fact their documentaries on all the presidents seem real good (even though they lean a little left as a station).

    I wanted to say a Hurrah for president Gerry Ford (he’s from my home town :) ) The right man for that time, to heal the nation.

    We’ll skip Bill, like history should and go right to president Regan.

    It’s with great joy I remember going to a place in town called East Grand Rapids to a camera center that I needed to do business with. It was filled with old hippies who ran the place. I remember hearing on their radio something about President Regan, and hearing the collective groans of the guys there, and the report had to do with psychologists who were dealing with people (libs) who were just over wrought with him and how business was booming. I just snickered, couldn’t help it. After they had disgraced this country even more by voting someone like Carter in, (not to mention Bill later) they deserved to suffer. We sure did.

    I was only a teenager downstairs working in my dad’s workshop one evening when Richard Nixon came on the tv and said he was resigning the presidency. I truly think that has been the goal of every democrat in congress since then, to get another republican president to resign in disgrace. Shameful.

    I have nothing but admiration for president’s Bush ability to keep the terrorism off our shores. I wish he would have done more with our Mexican border situation. In reading the book “The Next 100 Years” by George. Friedman, “The continued migration of Mexicans will be seen by the Mexican government simply as rectification of historical defeats” by 2080 he expects there to be a “serious confrontation between the US and an increasingly powerful and assertive Mexico”.

    As for this current administration, its the first step of a 5 step process to install socialism in the U.S.. These people are patient and do things gradually. This right now though is a Hitler style Blitzkrieg. Our version is called shock and aw. I think he is moving as fast as he can, because he knows his time is short, any day now, truth is going to leak out on him that is going to take away his power. What it will be who knows? One thing for sure, the ire and vitriol against the DNC and its associates (news, congress, lib causes) is rising. The pressure valve is going to blow shortly and this party is just going to catch hell on all fronts, they won’t be able to quietly put out the fires because everyone is going to know about it. This extreme liberal version of the DNC is going to be like a burnt turkey on thanksgiving day.

      Your final paragraph has taken my heartfelt thoughts and given them the written word. Very well stated and a good read! Thanks

    Good post Frog. It brings back memories for me also… I think many of us can still remember what we were doing the day that Kennedy died. We also remember Viet Nam,and every night as we watched it on TV. We grew up in an era of the Cold war.How many remember having drills at school hiding in hallways in case the bomb was dropped. Young people today have no clue.

    Good reading Frog, Brings back a lot of memories good and bad. Like most American citizens I fell asleep and let the politicians do their thing. I didn’t get too involved in politics as I was a young veteren (19 when I got out) just trying to make a living. My interest perked back up when Reagan ran the first time and have been fairly active since then Sometimes I also feel I am voting for damage control or the one who will hurt America the least. Hell of a way to pick a president. Bush did great on keeping us safe but ignored the power of vetoing bad legislation which is my major complaint on his presidency.I understand politics is a give and take type situation but it is totally out of the control of the people which I never dreamed could happen. It is time to take control back from the government and restore it to the people. I am oft times amazed at how easily we turned it over to career politicians thinking they would do what is best for the country. They have proven that theory wrong. There are too many special interests that buy their way into power. Our elected officials should listen to the people and do their job accordingly. I don’t think the citizenry is so stupid we can’t make informed decisions. Sorry this is so long but my concern for my country grows daily as I believe we are heading in the wrong direction.

    A GREAT read Jim….Brings back a few good and bad memories. My Dad and mom voted for Carter just because he was from Georgia. After the first year they knew they had made a mistake, but the deed was done.I heard more about Billy beer than president Carter. The one thing that stands out about Carter was his dipping into the social security fund trying to get all that needed welfare covered. Ronald Reagan imop was the best thing that could have happened in this country at the time and since. I was proud to tell all I voted for him. I like a man with some back bone willing to look the enemy in the eye when telling them what he would do. The idea of meaning what you say, and the courage to back that up has become extinct since he left office. I would love to feel that American Pride again. After Reagan is when I became an independent. The way our men were treated during the Vietnam War and afterward was appalling. I got into a few scraps about that over the years. I can not stand to see or hear anyone disrespect the men and women who lay down their lives for me, mine, and my Country!!

    I wrote this mainly because younger folks don’t realize that our country cycles through poliics and seems to take some pretty wild swings along the way. We’re in one now.
