This is mostly happening due to an excessive outpouring of compassion for unskilled ‘tards. When did it become fashionable to reward the least necessary elements of society with our attentions both economic and social? How much is “cool” really worth? I cant tell you how many times somebody has pulled up to the shop in some tricked out 40,000 dollar ride with several thousand dollars worth of wheels and multimedia screwed on, only to gripe me out for charging 35 bucks for an oil service. As though I were keeping them from enjoying their overpriced toy by demanding some compensation for my skills. Back home we say “if he hadnt ‘ve blown the wad on the horse, he might’ve had enough for a saddle”. I say to the “boomers”….you’ve got a mighty fine horse there, how does she ride?

Yes, we will be at 9/12/09….We lived high in the 60’s as our parents had it easy…In the 70’s we were in college and carefree souls having fun. now in 2009 we have one holy mess and I do not have the answers except—Change the faces in DC..It will be a start….Stop spending my money on stupid things as sperm count on
whales—-thats Ms. CA……I dont want to see my children, grandchildren and theirs go thru this holy holy mess DC has made…..(And DC is proud). An old fashion govt with old fashion family values may be a fresh start…We email our SC leaders and either they
got tired of the mail and emails or they are finally realizing America is mad they do answer and Jim DeMint sends me weekly emails….John Spratt even though He has done research for me in the past and answered my questions when I needed help–some of his letters to me or just hogwash…He needs a better writer in his office.I dont like my questions answered with a question and I think he is going in that direction too far theses days–or he could be scared for his office he so wants to keep..

I agree, FP. I’ve paid my dues in more ways than one and I have no regrets. However, I’m at the point now where I almost don’t give a damn. I rarely visit discussion groups and blogs now because I’m sick and tired of all the hatred, animosity and name calling. I’m done trying to influence diehard Democrats, Republicans and fence sitters as they continue to parrot the same old shit they’ve been spoon fed for decades. It’s disgusting to see so many lemmings who don’t have a clue about anything.

I continue to call, write and email my elected representatives and I continue to receive no responses. Hell, the office staff of these politicians don’t even know what’s contained in the legislation their bosses sponsor and vote for. These politicians don’t give a shit about the people they represent. They never have and they never will.

I’m retired now and quite frankly I’m living better than ever thanks to my pension and annuity. Having said that, I must also admit that I am fearful about the future for my two sons and any children they may have later in their lives. Their future is looking pretty bleak at the moment. They’re well aware that hard work and honesty will get you absolutely nowhere now. They’re also aware that nice guys finish last. It’s sad. Things were different before.

America is the finest country in the world in which to live. It’s the greatest ongoing experiment in democracy the world has ever seen. Sadly, opportunities that once existed for you and me are evaporating quickly. America will soon be a country of the rich and the poor and there will be no room for the middle class. Hold on to what you’ve worked hard for all your life because your future earnings are going to support all the Americans who are too lazy to work.

I’ve made a very difficult decision concerning my life in retirement. I’m not going to sit around and watch my ability to support myself disappear in the near future. If and when things come to push and shove I’m going to leave America and plant myself in another country where I can live without the fear of going broke and becoming destitute. I won’t renounce my American citizenship but I will leave this country and not look back. I have more friends overseas than I have in America. I’ll get along just fine. My biggest fear has always been that once I die I’ll be forgotten by my friends and family and that nobody, including my children, will visit my grave. If I end up in another country that’s one thing I won’t have to worry about. My wife will simply have me cremated and toss me in the wind. On second thought I think she’ll probably eat me. If I’ve learned one thing about Chinese people it’s that they’ll eat just about anything. She’ll cut me up into little pieces, keep the one piece she can use and stir fry the rest of me with a lot of ginger, soy sauce and hot spices. I could be wrong but I think conservatives probably taste pretty good.

This country is slowly flushing itself down the toilet. I don’t intend to go along for the ride. I’m sure things will slowly get better, but I don’t think that will happen until this country destroys itself financially and a new breed of Americans rise from the ashes.

I wish you and your family the best in life and hope you never suffer any detrimental hardships of any kind. I’ve made a few friends on Newsvine and I wish the same for all of them.

I fear we are seeing the beginning of the end of this country, and sometimes feel there isn’t a damn thing we can do about it, try as we may. We are as divided a people as I think we can possibly be, and it absolutely astonishes me. Who in the hell in their right mind could vote for the likes of an Al Franken? WHO? Who in their right mind can re-elect time and again the likes of Frank, Pelosi, Reid, and Dodd? The country is going to hell under their direct leadership, yet “they” will be re-elected term after term. WHY?

The rubber-stamped tardy replys I get from my Senators and Representative are meaningless and just a waste of time and tax-payers dollars in themselves. I have no confidence in my county government, and even less in my state and federal government.

As I shared with FP a while ago, my business is barely hanging on as a direct result of our government’s ineptness. My bank was taken over by the FDIC in May, and it has taken me this long to get my line of credit restored with my new bank, not because of my credit worthiness, but because the FDIC took so long just to release their interest in my home, even though I owed nothing on the line of credit! It crippled my operating cash flow, and I had to exhasust all of my personal cash reserves to keep the doors open. And the people largely responsible for this mess were elected by “the people”?

I’m 59 years young and feel I have contributed above and beyond the norm in my local community and service to my country, not to mention the tax dollars I have contributed to my state and federal government. When I ask myself the magic question, “just what has my city, county, state, and federal government done for me lately”, I have no answer other than they do absolutely diddly squat, and continue to grow larger!

The same government I volunteered to fight for has become my biggest fear.

I don’t know about —”We fell asleep at the wheel”—as I for one for many years have been attempting to WAKE the sheepeople up—but the age old saying applies—”You can lead a horse to water—BUT can’t make them drink”!!

For the many—who voted in the Obamanation the BIG wake up call is yet to come—but I do trust that IT is coming and sooner than they think.
Obama is loosing ground in the polls and soon will have to go into “Damage Control mode”. This is where it WILL become more dangerous for all the FREE thinking Americans.

Everything revolves around campaigning for his job. Not actually doing the job, mind you, but making sure that he is always in his comfort zone of wanting the job and what he’s gonna do when he gets it. Which is why anything that he actually manages to accomplish looks so amateurish in it’s outcome. C’mon people, the man has no skills, just another Ivy League college fried coat-tail pilot.

I’m awake and on red alert now. I call them all the time. They are long phone calls too. I spoke with someone in Aaron Schock”s office yesterday. He said he was taking many calls from people who felt as I do. I had just called the President a fascist.

It took some of us longer then others to realize that our government has not been working in our best interest. When we were young we thought we could change the world. Then we got married started raising children, working, and just to damn tired to think about it. Trying just to survive. I like many thought the Democrat party was the answer to all the problems this country was facing, and they would take care of it. My ex-husband was a Viet Nam vet who also had PTSD. I spent many years trying to help him deal with the VA, and all that entailed. That was when I started seeing how the government was not working for us but themselves. I spent many hours at the VA in Denver watching, and talking to the vets. How they had given up everything to fight for this country, and the government was not helping them in their time of need. The VA was no help to my ex, and he continued to spiral downhill into alcohol addiction as many vets have. That was when my distrust of the government started. Now I write letters, which doesn’t seem to ever get answered except with form letters. My distrust seems to have been well founded.

At least you are writing and letting them know which end is which with you Maggiemay. It’s so easy now with the advent of their websites. I get responses from my Senators. My rep is James Clyburn who is a a Pelosi ass smoocher all the way, besides being a racist and he is black. He gets back in because of gerrymandering in the district I live in. Another BS fallacy that was created to “equalize” things. Yeah right. We end up having elected officials who cater to the uneducated, ill informed and welfare recipients among the population, be they white black, red or purple. But is is a true “give them something to put in their pockets” Democrat.

Our generation has a lot to answer for. We were going to change the world in the 60’s and unfortunately we did.
